Volunteer Opportunities

BOA San Antonio Super Regional

November 5-6, 2021

The CTJ band has again been named the host band for the 2021 BOA San Antonio Super Regional marching competition. This means the band needs many volunteers. This is a great opportunity for the school and the band program to shine!

By signing up to volunteer on November 5th or 6th (or both days!), you will receive a t-shirt and the ability to watch bands for free the day you work. If you work a morning shift and get off at 11:00 am, you are able to watch bands the rest of the day for free. If you work the middle or late shift, you can come early and watch the bands before your shift and after you’re finished. If you want to work more than one shift, you can do that too.  For those who work though lunch or dinner time, food and water will be provided.

There is something for everyone to do. If you have some limitations that might keep you from working, the volunteer coordinators can probably find something that fits your situation. For example, we have many openings remaining for band warmup monitors. This is an indoor position (inside the Alamodome) where you are encouraged to bring a chair to sit in while each band warms up. Your role is mainly to welcome them to the warmup area and to monitor the time to let them know when it’s time to move toward the field. Pit and colorguard warmup monitor positions are similar, except that they’re outdoors. If you have ANY questions, feel free to call either Jeff or Martin.

The event is less than 3 weeks away and we still have over 100 SLOTS and we need to get them filled quickly.  For specific openings, dates, times, and brief job descriptions for the available positions, please click on the links below, or check volunteer event opportunities in Charms.  To sign up, just enter your name, email, and phone number beside the position you want, and click the submit button. The volunteer coordinators will be in touch as the event draws closer.

It takes our entire community to host this event.  From current parents and family members to alumni families and friends needing NHS hours, there is something for everyone to do!

A few final notes and reminders:

  • The early Friday start times have been shifted a bit later than we’ve had in the past, so no 5 am arrival times this year!
  • For volunteers working the Friday evening shift, because CTJ marches next-to-last that evening, you WILL get to see CTJ perform, likely from the field level itself.  If you have never experienced a show from field level, it’s great!
  • If you prefer, you can simply email/text/call Jeff or Martin with the job and shift you want, and we’ll sign you up.  We want to make this as simple as possible!
